May
Welcome to May, the month that symbolizes growth. It is also the last month of spring, which represents new beginnings. Like our previous blogs, how will we connect with this month? Lucky for us, we are humans, and one of the fascinating things about being human is our ability to grow. Within growth is the ability to adapt, adjust, and thrive; this embryonic ability. And whether that growth falls under any of the dimensions of wellness, regardless, it is growth. This growth is also a blessing, even when it’s unintentional. But since it occurs every second of every day, we sometimes don’t recognize this blessing. In other words, it has become a norm, and we forget to appreciate it. With this lack of awareness and appreciation, we tend to direct our energy and time onto things that are less important to us (obstructing us from reaching our full potential). So, imagine if we could be precise with how we grow. Imagine if we eliminated such bad habits that prohibit our growth. Imagine if we could direct our energy into what matters and what’s important. Would life finally be more fulfilled? Would we achieve everlasting happiness? Or maybe we would become more successful?
Below, we will provide questions that we suggest you ask yourself at the start of each week (at least) for the purpose of self-reflection and appreciation. These questions will also be individually posted on our Instagram throughout the month. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals who desire to grow according to their unique life’s purpose.
Questions:
- What was I doing a year ago? Two years ago? Three years ago?
- If I focus my growth on three things, what would they be, and how will I improve those things?
- Am I growing according to my life’s purpose and not someone else’s?
- What can I learn that will positively affect myself and others around me?
- What will I learn next?
As we get older, we become more responsible and are forced to do more things independently. Which naturally causes us to learn and adapt to these situations that impend against us. During these situations, we also become distracted (at least for some of us). We sometimes lose the sense of who we are because we get too busy trying to be what others want us to be. So, it is essential to reflect and take control of our growth (Am I growing for myself? Or am I growing for my parents? etc.). I also agree and believe it is essential to direct our growth into the areas of our life that are most important to us and not others. Only then will life be what we want it to be. I also think the questions are easy, but at the same time, it requires some thought. I will be adding it to my weekly to-do list!
